The Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) is issuing a notice regarding unclaimed bodies currently held in the hospital mortuary.
Bodies Unclaimed for More Than Three Months
This notice pertains to all bodies that have been unclaimed in the JOOTRH mortuary for a period exceeding three months. These bodies are subject to disposal in accordance with hospital protocols.
Public Viewing for Identification
The hospital is conducting a public viewing period from March 17th to April 7th, 2024 (inclusive), between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM daily, to allow for identification of any unclaimed remains.
Description of Unclaimed Bodies
A list of the unclaimed bodies is available, including details such as place and date of death when known. While most causes of death are undetermined, some documented causes include drownings, mob violence, sudden death, murder, and assault. The date of death for these bodies ranges from August 2023 to December 2023.
Specific Cases
- The late Ronald Ochieng, who passed away in Ward Three on August 20th, 2023 (Kondele Police Station case).
- Baby Rachel Abiero (JOOTRH nursery, ID number 26348), who passed away on December 13th, 2023.
- Baby Eunice Anyango (Ward Four, patient number 384068), who passed away on December 16th, 2023.
