The Dental Department at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) provides a full spectrum of dental services, from preventive care to complex therapeutic treatments. As a key component of JOOTRH’s comprehensive healthcare offerings, we serve as a referral center for routine and intricate dental cases from county, sub-county, and private hospitals.

We are also committed to JOOTRH’s teaching mission, actively involved in training medical and dental students from various institutions. With JOOTRH’s recent elevation to a national referral hospital and parastatal status in March 2025, we anticipate enhanced resources and an even greater capacity to deliver exceptional dental care.

Our Services:
The Dental Department offers comprehensive oral healthcare, including:

Preventive Care: We emphasize oral health education, fluoride applications, and dental sealants to prevent tooth decay. Our team also conducts community outreach programs to raise awareness about oral hygiene.
Diagnostic Services: We utilize clinical dental examinations and basic imaging, such as X-rays, to accurately identify conditions like caries, periodontal disease, oral infections, and cancers.
Restorative and Therapeutic Treatments: Our services include fillings (amalgam and composite), root canal treatments, scaling and root planing for periodontal issues, and both routine and surgical tooth extractions.
Surgical and Specialized Procedures: We perform minor oral surgeries, such as the removal of impacted wisdom teeth or cysts. We also collaborate with the surgical department to manage maxillofacial trauma cases.
Emergency Dental Care: Integrated with JOOTRH’s Accident and Emergency services, we provide urgent care for acute pain, abscesses, and trauma, ensuring prompt management of oral infections.
Outpatient Services: Our regular dental clinics offer consultations, follow-ups, and non-emergency treatments, contributing to the hospital’s overall outpatient visits.
