Surgical consultation covers the disciplines of general surgery, Pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, Ophthalmology, dental surgery, critical care and anesthesiology, ENT(Ear, Nose, and Throat), and cardiothoracic surgery. The total weekly surgical consultation hours is 224 hrs. Increased time allocation for surgery consultation, has however increased the average time to surgery for elective cases by 1 month.
The hospital is currently increasing surgical bed space from the current 100 to 250 through the ongoing expansion project with the aim of halving the time to surgery from the current 6 months in the region to less than 3 months by 2021.
